St. Paul girls run their record to 7-1 with great defensive performance vs. Fairfield Warde

Basketball

It is not often you can win a basketball game with only three 2-point field goals in an entire contest, but that is what the St. Paul defense held Fairfield Warde to on Saturday night, and to no one’s surprise, the result was a 43-31 Falcon victory over Warde in Fairfield.

Nadia Reimer was the offensive force for St. Paul with 23 points, scoring from both outside the arc and in the paint. Emily Ronalter and Zoey Rubins were next at 7 and 6 points respectively for the Falcons.

The real story was the Falcon’s defense, however, as Warde was unable to get anything going against the St. Paul defenders. Warde was able to score only 6 points in the second and a measly 4 points in the final quarter, and only one player, Ryanne Glubin, with 13, was able to reach double figures.

With the win, St.Paul now stands at 7-1 on the season. Fairfield Warde drops to 3-6.

St. Paul returns home on Tuesday to face Crosby of Waterbury in a 7:00 contest.
