GLASTONBURY – The Glastonbury Gymnasium is a strange facility to shoot in for any visiting basketball program.

With large open spaces behind both the baskets, it’s something that takes a minute or two to get used to.

And the Bristol Eastern girls program, bringing a two-game winning streak into Glastonbury, never got into the flow.

The Lancers absorbed a tough 51-26 setback against the Guardians on Monday night – falling to 4-5 overall.

At the halfway point of the season for Glastonbury, the squad improved to 8-2.

Eastern hung around early, trailing by just five points through one (14-9) but was never able to fully catch-up.

The Lancers were outscored 19-9 over the next eight minutes to absorb a tough 33-18 deficit at the half.

Eastern was again outscored by 10 points (16-6) in the third tilt as the Kingstreeters fell behind 49-24 with one period remaining.

Autumn Udoh led Lancers’ charge with 11 points while Taigan Parent nabbed 10 for the locals – hitting two 3-point bombs along the way.

Vanessa Drury, Amanda Noel and Lauren Ayotte also scored for Eastern.

Maddy Handrahan zipped up a game-high 16 points for the Guardians.

Eastern is back in action on Thursday for a trip to Meriden against Platt (5:15 p.m.).

After losing three consecutive games, the Panthers (5-5) have won two straight – defeating Tolland and Wilcox Tech by a combined 11 points.
