UniteCT Emergency Rental Assistance mobile van in Bristol Friday, July 16

The City of Bristol issued the following news release today.

The UniteCT Mobile Van is coming to Bristol on Friday, July 16th from 10am to 3pm and will be located in the Centre Square Parking area across from City Hall.

Congressman John Larson, along with the State of CT Dept. of Housing Commissioner SeilaMosquera-Bruno will also be on hand to discuss the CT DOH’s efforts to address and support Connecticut residents during and after COVID.

Acting through the Connecticut Department of Housing, the State of Connecticut has developed the UniteCT Program which includes $235 million to provide rental and electricity payment assistance to qualified Connecticut residents financially impacted by COVID-19. The intent is to help stabilize Connecticut’s Rental Housing Market. The program will financially support households up to 80% of the HUD Area Median Income.

“The UniteCT Mobile Van program provides tenants and landlords the opportunity to meet with members of the team to answer program related questions, and complete the appropriate applications to determine what financial assistance may be available,” said Mayor Ellen Zoppo-Sassu. “The City hosted the UniteCT van back in May through our Community Services division and it serviced well over 75 people that afternoon.”

While walk-ins are welcome, appointments are suggested. Appointments can be made by clicking this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/unitect  Appointments are priorities and walk-ins are accepted as time is available. If applicants have an appointment, they should show up 15 minutes early. All walk-in appointments need to show up an hour before the event ends (most events end at 3pm, so walk-ins must show up at 2pm).

What to bring? Tenants are asked to provide the following documents: Proof of Identification, Proof of Income, Copy of Lease or Rental Agreement, Proof of past due rent, Proof of past due electric bill and proof of Covid-19 financial hardship.

Landlords are asked to provide Property information, Tenant information, Identification and W-9, Copy of Lease of Rental Agreement, Proof of Ownership and a copy of tenant statement of arrearages.

In conjunction to the UniteCT van, the Community Health Centers will also be hosting a pop-up vaccination clinic from 9am-3pm in the same location. “All three of the vaccinations will be available – Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson,” said Councilwoman Brittany Barney. “This is a great opportunity for college bound students to get their shots this summer if their colleges are requiring vaccinations.”
