Alec Baldwin hosted, and Whitney Houston was the musical guest for show #14 of the 16th season. Among the sketches that night was The McLaughlin Group with Dan Carvey as John McLaughlin.

This date in New England Whalers history

The then-New England Whalers of the World Hockey Association (WHA) defeated the Winnipeg jets 2-1 with Tom Webster’s overtime goal.

Before a crowd of 10,007 in the old Winnipeg Arena, the Whalers improved their record to 30 wins, 22 losses and 2 ties. Although in first place in the WHA’s East Division, they had more total goals against 194 than goals scored 185.

100 years ago today in Bristol

The Women’s Auxiliary of Boys’ Club (sic) had a party on behalf of the intermediate boys. In charge of the Committee was Miss Elizabeth Hackett.
