Bristol middle school cross country meet held on Wednesday yields great performances

Kaelyn Gonzalez establishes new course record from Rockwell Park at the Bristol Middle School Girls Meet

BRISTOL – What a day it was last Wednesday for Chippens Hill’s Kaelyn Gonzalez at the Bristol Middle School City Girls Cross Country meet from Rockwell Park.

Gonzalez, outracing all the competition from Northeast, West Bristol, and Greene-Hills Middle Schools, ended the event with a new course record of 13:51.1 as Chippens Hill ended up winning the annual event.

In fact, the runner-up of the showdown finished nearly 85 seconds after the speedy Gonzalez crossed the finish line.

Gonzalez helped Chippens win the event behind a 37-point showing while Northeast made a credible second place finish with 54 points.

West Bristol (third place, 64 points) and Greene-Hills (69) rounded out the four team challenge.

Chippens ended up taking five of the top 11 spots at the event to earn the 2021 championship.

Calliope Gallagher (6th, 16:07.2), Mia Stopkoski (9th, 17:28.6), Olivia Stafford (10th, 17:56.7), and Punya Mohan (11th, 17:58.3) rounded out the top runners for the victors.

Also performing well at the middle school event was runner-up Isla Thibodeau from West Bristol (15:14.8) while Chloe Passander of Greene-Hills (15:18.3) nabbed third place.

West Bristol’s Emersyn Mazzei (4th place, 15:20) ran well while the Northeast combination of Deyonna Richardson (5th, 15:44.3) and Tesly Ceollo (7th, 16:16.8) made big finishes.

Leah Stone of Greene-Hills (8th, 16:28.3) also ran well in a very tough field.

Chippens Hill’s Zach Floser wins City Middle School Boys Cross Country Meet last Wednesday

BRISTOL – On Wednesday, November 3, the annual Bristol Middle School City Boys Cross Country meet took place from Rockwell Park and this time around, the program from West Bristol came away with a big victory.

The winners won the race behind a 33 points as the second place squad, Greene-Hills, was a distant runner-up with 53.

Chippens Hill earned third place (60) while Northeast (77) took fourth.

Chippens Hill’s Zach Floser won the race in 13:05.1 while Alex Lamarre (Greene-Hills) earned second place in 14:00 flat.

Noah Pellerin (Greene-Hills) nabbed third place in 14:07.4 while West Bristol took the ensuing four slots.

Michael Demers (4th, 14:08.9), Nathan Duval (5th, 14:25), Dwight Smith (6th, 15:01.1) and Dean Stark (7th, 15:06) were the West Bristol wheelhouse, along with Kamal Rutkowski (11th, 15:32.2) as he was the fifth runner to reach the finish line for the program – helping his team clinch the victory.

Rounding out the top-10 at the race from Rockwell Park included Brendan Carmody (8th, 15:14) from Chippens Hill while Northeast’s duo of Logan Shamper (9th, 15:20.2) and Connor Paradis (10th, 15:27.7) made very good finishes.

Not surprisingly, Mark Petrosky – formerly of West Bristol – holds the course record as he ran the race in a course record of 12:16 back in 2015.
