BRISTOL – The Bristol Central wrestling team continued its winning ways this past Wednesday, flipping rival Maloney by a 55-12 final in a CCC South showdown from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium in Bristol.

The Rams moved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in CCC South action.

On the flip side, the Spartans fell to 3-10 and 0-4 in the CCC South.

Central was led by its 120-pound dynamo Will Hamilton as he battered Maloney’s Onil Carrion – racking up a 14-5 decision to pace the Rams’ attack.

There wasn’t a match at 106 pounds and Central had to forfeit at 113.

Hamilton won at 120 and then at 126, Central’s Julian Colon worked hard in snaring a 10-8 decision over Nicholas Rodriguez.

The Rams earned a pin-fall victory at 132 when Aiden Lamarre turned away Robert Taylor in 1:17 and Landon Dionne (138) pinned Saleem Saleh at 4:31 for the win.

Central’s Lincoln Archibald (145) won via forfeit while Umar Malick (160) pinned Maloney’s Dairo Garcia in only twenty-seven seconds.

There was more from the Rams as Tim Sample (170) pinned Alex Macancela in under a minute while Central’s Jayden Colon (182) zipped up a default decision against Maloney’s Nick Gural.

The Spartans wrangled up pin-fall victories at 195 and 220 while at heavyweight (285), Jeff Labbe grabbed a big win.

Labbe battled Maloney’s Luis Delgado, pinning the big man in 3:08.

In the end, Central won the match by 43 points.

Tonight, the Rams have a huge confrontation on their hands as Plainville comes to town in another CCC South war.

The Blue Devils are coming off a 60-13 setback against Berlin on Wednesday from the Kegel Gymnasium in Plainville.

The bout takes place at 6 p.m. from BCHS and the following day, the Rams travel to Middletown to battle Xavier and several other programs – including Bristol Eastern.

Those matches commence at 9 a.m.
