BERLIN – The Bristol Eastern wrestling squad made a sixth place showing at the C.J .McCormack Tournament on Saturday from the Jim Day Gymnasium at Berlin High school.

The Lancers netted 121 points at the event as the meet proved to be a good measuring stick for the Kingstreeters.

Foran won the meet behind 238 points while Avon picked up second place (193.5).

Berlin took third place (189.5) while Plainville – coached by former Bristol Eastern grappler Todd Krolikowski – earned fourth (141).

Four athletes were in the finals mix for the locals and at 152 pounds, Ella Nichols posted a slick 4-0 decision to win the title.

The Lancers also had three wrestlers that were runners up by the completion of the tournament.

At 113 pounds, Avon’s Isaiah Adams earned a 16-1 technical fall victory over Anthony Silva while Eastern’s running back sensation was in the finals of the 160 division. In the end, Joshua Nieroda (Suffield/Windsor Locks) snuck out a 1-0 decision over Alex Marshall for the championship.

And then Dylan Piazza (182) worked hard in his bout against Farmington’s Shane Hurley, falling via pinfall with 10 seconds remaining in the third period.

And in the consolation finals, Eastern’s Gabe White (126 pounds) won his bout by major decision, sinking Berlin’s Johan Lorenzo with a 12-3 win in the third-place match.

Others in action for the Lancers on Saturday included Andrew Brown (106 pounds), Luke Viens (113), Mike Roalf (120), and Camden Michaud (126).

Caitlyn Ouellette and Lamare Brooks battled at 132 pounds, Nathan Torres (138), Tom Vontell (145), Liam Cody (152), Caleb Miller and Kaiden Dionne (170), Ethan Mills (182), Jaiden Fore (195), Owen Broyles (195), along with Evan Gleifert (220), were part of the tournament showing for the Lancers.

The Lancers are back in action on Wednesday in a CCC South confrontation from Middletown high school.
