Dorothy A. Baxter, 88

Dorothy A. Baxter, 88, of Southington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Aug. 7. She was born Feb. 18, 1935. in Torrington, daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte (Cook) Witkoski, Sr.

Dorothy was the loving wife of the late Thomas R. Baxter for 49 years before his passing in 2003. She graduated from Plainville High School and later the CT school of Banking. Dorothy was an active member of St. Dominic Church and a longtime member of the Plainville Historical Society where she had served as Treasurer and Secretary in years past.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Nadine Lavoie and husband David of Mansfield Center; son Richard Baxter of Wallingford; grandchildren Danica Baxter and fiancée Sara Bouchard, Zach Baxter, and step granddaughter Sarah Blafer and husband Corey; great-grandson Luke David Blafer and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her son Daniel Baxter and her brother Edward Witkoski Jr.

A graveside Service will be held directly at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville on Monday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Plainville Historic Society, 29 Pierce Street, Plainville, CT 06062.
