On behalf of today, welcome. If you have any questions, save them for tomorrow. He loves questions.

Let’s begin.

100 years ago today in Bristol

In association with Connecticut Hardware Dealers Convention, The CJ Root Co had a “clever window display” of hinges and counters.

Mary Hines Gunsaulus of Atlanta continued her lecture series at Federal Hill School with a lecture titled: “Mind, Its Laws and Powers.”

The Bristol Hudson-Essex Co. at 25 Main St. was selling the Hudson Super Coach 6 for $1,525.

In 1973, King Harvest peaked at #13 with Dancing in the Moonlight on the Billboard Top 40. It was their only Top 40 hit.

The St. Paul’s men’s basketball team continued their march to a second consecutive state title with a 55-54 victory over East Catholic. Mark Noon had 17, and Frank Owsianko contributed 14 to lead the team. It was their ninth win in 10 games, clinching the Hartford County Conference regular season title.

How about that?

The oldest person to have lived (whose age could be verified) was Jeanne Louise Calment. She was 122 years old when she died in 1997.

The long and winding road

That does it for today. We have a home version of our game and a year’s supply of Turtle Wax for you on the way out.

Until next time Bristol, stay sexy.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
