Bristol Central girls track drops 81-68 decision to Lewis Mills

BURLINGTON – The Bristol Central girls track team was in a close duel against Lewis Mills on Tuesday, April 27 in Burlington.

The locals had several first place finishers but, in the end, the Rams fell by an 81-68 final in a CCC South confrontation to fall to 1-2 overall on the year.

Central had multiple winners on the track, including Natalia Popielarz and Salvatrice Bosco.

The 4×800 relay team of Isabella Crandall, Sophia Stark, Popielarz and Bosco won the grueling event in 10:52.

And then Popielarz ruled the afternoon in both the 800 meter and mile challenges.

Popielarz posted a 2:37.8 in the half-mile event while in the 1600 meters, the senior standout came in first place with a time of 6:04.  

Bosco zipped up a leading time of 60.9 seconds in the 400 while in the 200 meter sprint, the senior won the event in 27.9 seconds. 

Finally in the shot put, Kaleah Richards made a winning toss of 22 feet, 2 and ¾ inches.

Mills improved its season ledger to 2-1 off the winning effort.

On Tuesday, May 4, Central is home in a CCC South encounter against Middletown from the BC track.
