The Pequabuck River Duck Race returns this year — with a new host.

The City Arts & Culture Commission and the Parks, Recreation, Youth & Community Services Department is thrilled to be taking over this annual community event. 5,000 ducks will splash and swim in the Pequabuck River.

You can also have a chance to win over 25 prizes (the first-place prize is $1,500 cash).

Before & during the race, there will be a block party, complete with children’s games, crafts, music, vendors & food.

The festivities will start on Sunday at 11 a.m., and the ducks will be released at 1 p.m. Ducks/tickets are on sale at the BPRYCS main office at 51 High St. until Friday, Sept. 30. Each ticket is $10.

If you have any questions, you can call the BPRYCS office at860-584-6160.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
