Joyce Berch, 81

Joyce A. Berch, 81, of Bristol, died on Monday, Jan. 30, at her home. Joyce was born in Waterbury on Aug. 9, 1941, and was one of five children of the late George Berch, Sr. and Edna (Wright) Berch. She lived her early years in Prospect, Cheshire, and Thomaston graduating from Thomaston High School. She lived most of her life in Thomaston until moving to Bristol seven years ago.

Among the places she worked included the Waterbury Republican, Tech Systems in Thomaston, and White Flower Farm in Torrington. She enjoyed gardening and baking, and she loved cake decorating. She was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Parish devoted to St. Anthony Church, Bristol. 

Joyce is survived by two daughters: Dr. Jean Templin and husband, Chris of Richland, Pa., and Janet and David Lozinski of Bristol; two brothers: George Berch, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Venice, Fla., Ed Berch and wife, Mary of Naugatuck; sister: Judy Screen and husband, Richard of Thomaston; two grandchildren: Mark and Sarah Lozinski; nieces and nephews, and grand puppies: Ivy, Roo, Shadow. She was predeceased by a brother: Stephen Berch. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Feb. 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 111 School St., Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Friday prior to Mass between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), 366 Main St., Terryville, CT 06786.
