Bristol Democratic Town Committee elects new leadership

The Bristol Democratic Town Committee recently issued the following press release.

The Bristol Democratic Town Committee announced they have elected a new Chairperson and First-Vice Chairperson to their Executive Board at their meeting on Monday.

Then-current Chairperson Morris “Rippy” Patton made the decision to vacate the role as Chairperson after the midterm elections and announced his intent to the Committee’s membership at their October meeting to allow time for members to decide who would be best suited for the volunteer role. He listed family and additional community responsibilities as his reasons for stepping down but was clear that he intends to remain an active member of the BDTC.

At Monday’s meeting, the BDTC held elections for the roles of Chairperson and the previously vacated First-Vice Chairperson. After a unanimous election, Ken Rasmussen-Tuller, spouse of two-time candidate for the 77th House District, Andrew Rasmussen-Tuller, was chosen to lead the BDTC and Rich Goodwin was chosen as the First-Vice Chairperson.

Ken Rasmussen-Tuller is a 10-year resident of Bristol raising his three children with his husband, Andrew in the Edgewood neighborhood. Ken has held various leadership roles both professionally and in the community. Ken works in the Healthcare sector, leading the Supply Chain division of multiple hospitals and health systems in Connecticut. He has previously served as a volunteer Healthcare sector leader for the United Way of Greater Waterbury. Rasmussen-Tuller said, “I am honored that the Bristol Democrats have put their faith in me to lead the organization and thankful for the service and dedication that Rippy provided during his tenure. I am confident that we can work as a team to focus our efforts on supporting our community through volunteerism and assisting in the election of individuals that share Bristol’s values.”

Rich Goodwin has been a Bristol resident since 1995. He and his wife raised two, now-adult, children and were active members of the school PTAs. He has volunteered at the Bristol Soccer Club, taught CCD at St. Gregory’s Roman Catholic Church and served on their Parish Council in various leadership roles. Rich works in the Insurance sector and is passionate about giving back to the community. Goodwin stated, “I am thrilled to take on this new role and work with the rest of the Executive Board and general membership to serve our community.”

The Bristol Democratic Town Committee meets monthly on the fourth Monday of each month at 7pm at the Bristol Elks Lodge, 126 South St. where all registered Democrats are welcome to attend. All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
