MIDDLETOWN – After last week’s stalemate against Platt, the Bristol Central girls track and field team bounced right back on Tuesday afternoon in Middletown.

The Rams were able to fend off Middletown by an 83-66 final in a CCC South confrontation.

“Girls track and field got the win over Middletown today,” said Central coach Kiara Bonilla via Twitter. “Total team effort! [We’re] starting to put it all together!”

Central did a very good job over all three relay events – winning each race.

In the 4×800 relay, the team of Katie Tran, Sophia Stark, Gabriela Drewniak, and Johannie Juarez won in 13:36 while the grouping of Gabriella Naranjo, Rebecca Litwinczyk, Lynae Lewis, and Kylee Barnes took the 4×100 in 52.6 seconds.

And in the 4×400, the combination of Stark, Litwinczyk, Tran, and Lewis won in 4:36.5.

Central’s Emily Blanchette took the 300 hurdles (57.1 seconds), Lewis earned the victory in the 400 meters (1:06.5) while Stark nabbed the win in the 800 meters (2:42).

Litwinczyk took first place in the 200 meters with a time of 28 seconds flat while Kylee Barnes was the victor in the high jump with a leap of four feet, eight inches.

And Destinee Craft won both the long and triple jump events.

Craft’s make of 14 feet, two inches sealed the win for her in the long jump while taking the triple with a successful make of 30 feet, seven-and-a-half inches.

To end the month of April, Maloney of Meriden travels to the BCHS track and field next Tuesday for a CCC South bout in Bristol, starting at 3:45 p.m.
