The skies over Bristol did not cooperate on Monday. The photos still came in from far and near.

The sky over Bristol did not cooperate with those of us who would have liked to view the solar eclipse earlier this week on Monday, but that did not stop Bristolites from viewing the eclipse from varying locations across the country, and even Central America, family members and former students included.

Gregory Fortier grabbed the feature photo above from Cancun, Mexico, where, coincidently, he was visiting as part of the wedding celebration of a college classmate.

While not a Bristolite, a former student of mine spent the day at the city beach in Plattsburg, N.Y., where she hunkered down with a friend and took the spectacular photos below as well as the time-lapse video.

Chelsea and Christy Fortier drove up to New Hampshire early Monday and situated themselves in an isolated outcropping somewhere in the White Mountains region for the photos below.

The solar eclipse, which reached the point of totality in a swath of the country, from the Texas border to the tip of Maine, was supposed to have gotten to 92 percent totality over Bristol remained obscured behind thick clouds.

In Bristol, the eclipse began at 2:13 p.m. and ended at 4:37 p.m., according to NASA.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.                Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.                Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
