Clayton J. ‘Butch’ Morgan, 85

Clayton J. “Butch” Morgan, Jr., 85, of Bristol, died on Sunday, June 25, at Bristol Hospital. Butch was born on May 14, 1938, in Bristol and was a son of the late Clayton Morgan, Sr. and Theresa (Sheehan) Morgan.

He was raised in Bristol graduating from Bristol High School in 1956. Following his graduation, he was drafted to serve in the United States Army. A former Plainville and Wolcott resident, he worked for the family business, Morgan Movers, until 1989 and New Departure for 30 years retiring in 1993. He also worked for Sandy’s TV for 10 years. 

He loved Captain American and listening to Johnny Cash and was a member of the Lone Ranger Fan Club. He also enjoyed watching the Red Sox, the Green Bay Packers, and playing set back. He was outgoing and enjoyed talking to people. 

He was a member of the American Legion and a soldier in the Salvation Army, ringing the bells during the holidays outside Walmart for 17 years.

He is survived by his children: Paul Morgan and Marta Ruiz, of Bristol, and Rebecca Bard of Plainville; siblings: Dennis Morgan and wife, Lynn of Maine, and Jeffrey Morgan and wife, Diane of Bristol, Janice Morgan-Dressal and husband, Mike of Plainville, and Carol Lea and husband, Mark of Plainville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, 19 Stearns St., Bristol. Butch was always late and will arrive at his funeral at 11:15 a.m. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.

Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Wednesday between 4 and 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 19 Stearns St., Bristol, CT 06010.
