Dolores ‘Dolly’ Savoca, 81

Dolores “Dolly” Savoca, 81, of Bristol, beloved wife of Vincent A. Savoca, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 21. Dolly was born on March 7, 1942, in New Britain to the late Querino and Genevieve (Josefiak) DeLuzio.

A Bristol resident since 1966, she worked for the Roland Dumont Agency for over 33 years before retiring. A social person, Dolly was a member of many clubs over the years, including the Junior Women’s Club, OSIA, the Ladies Guild and the Rosary Society. Her faith was important to her, watching daily mass when she was no longer able to attend in person.

With her husband at her side, Dolly enjoyed vacationing, especially cruising the Caribbean, Panama and Alaska. Dolly was an avid reader and would never be without a book nearby. Dolly and Vincent recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary surrounded by friends and family.

Dolly is survived by her loving husband Vincent and three children: Marie Bowes and husband Kenneth of Bristol, Christine Bracken and husband John of Southington, and Alan Savoca of Bristol: her brother Andrew and his wife Mary DeLuzio of Newport, N.C.; and her four grandchildren: Emily and John Bracken, Sarah and David Bowes who were the light of her eyes. She leaves behind many friends and extended family, including her “sister” Casey Huchko, and a very special friend, Karen Marquis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Church, 235 Malibu St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery,

Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave, Bristol, on Thursday between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
