Maureen Miano, 68

Maureen Miano, 68, of Bristol, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, Feb. 24, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Sinclair, Maine, daughter of the late Arthur Boucher and Yolande (Albert) Pelletier.

Maureen was the loving wife of Nicholas Miano for nearly 48 years. She so cherished the family they built together which included their two beautiful daughters. She cherished the time spent with her two grandchildren more than anything and her love for them was the driving force that kept her going. She always made the members of her family, especially her nieces and nephews feel so special and loved. She taught us that despite how difficult life can be, you can always find a reason to smile.

Besides her husband, Maureen is survived by her daughters Alyssa Volpicella and her husband Kevin of Bristol, Kristen Hoffman and her husband Scott of South Windsor; grandchildren Kaylene and Connor Volpicella of Bristol; sisters Jocelyn Skirkanich and her husband Nicholas of Cheshire, Louise Ignacak and her husband Richard of Bristol; brother Donald Boucher and his wife Shelley of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Maureen is predeceased by her stepfather Fernand Pelletier and her brother Dean Boucher.

There will be no calling hours and services will be held private.

Donations in honor of Maureen’s life may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, https://secure2.convio.net/mskcc/site/Donation.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
