The keynote speaker for this year’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rev. E.C. Whitehead Scholarship Breakfast will be the 2019 Connecticut Teacher of the Year Sheena Graham.

Graham, whose works have been performed locally as well as at the Kennedy Center and the White House, began teaching while also giving workshops on music literacy, connecting parents and teachers, and creating teaching tools for colleagues.

Aside from being recognized in Connecticut, Graham received the Teacher of the Year Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women and the NAACP. Her topic will be “Preparing Minds for the Future.”

The scholarship breakfast will be held at Bristol Eastern High School, on Monday, Jan. 15, at 8 a.m. Tickets are for adults, $20, for child 10 and under, $10.

For tickets, call Greater Bristol NAACP Office, (860) 973-4921 or Patricia Bentley, breakfast chairperson: (860) 637-3964.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
