Bristol resident selected as Recreation Program Assistant for Bristol Parks, Youth and Community Services

The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services has announced the selection of Bristol resident Madison Fostervold to assume the role of Recreation Program Assistant.

“I am very excited for this opportunity to work with Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services,” said Fostervold in the press release. “I’m delighted to work full time with the team that has supported me and helped me grow since I started in 2014 as a Counselor in Training.”

The Bristol resident has worked at the Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services department (BPRYCS) in part-time positions since 2016. Fostervold has also led a variety of recreation programs, directing the department’s Child Care Services during the Covid-19 school shutdowns.

The newly hired Recreation Program Assistant began her full-time service to the department on Monday, March 13, with an annual starting salary of $45,766.

“Madison was a clear choice for this role,” said Dr. Joshua Medeiros. “She has been an all-star employee in every job she’s held in the department over the past seven years and has a positive ‘can-do’ attitude that is infectious. It is a very natural progression for her to seamlessly join our professional administrative team.”

Medeiros is the Superintendent of the Bristol Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services

In addition to her work experience with BPRYCS, Fostervold has previously worked for the Bristol Boys and Girls Club as a Youth Development Professional, and an Event Coordinator with UConn Paws and Claws Club.

Fostervold holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from UConn and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Recreation Administration at Southern Connecticut State University.

The Recreation Program Assistant supports the administration of program development, coordination and delivery of high-quality recreational services such as summer camps, enrichment, sports, and special events.

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
