Julienne M. (Gagnon) ‘Julie’ Roy, 84

Julienne M. (Gagnon) “Julie” Roy, 84, of Bristol, beloved wife of Roger E. Roy, passed away on Saturday, July 1, at home.  Julie was born on Feb. 16, 1939, in Berlin, N.H., and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Marie-Ange (Dupuis) Gagnon.

Julie was raised in Berlin, N.H., and moved to Bristol in 1964.  Julie graduated from the St. Louis School of Nursing in Berlin, N.H., and was a Registered Nurse who worked at New Britain General Hospital, Bristol Hospital, Sheriden Woods, and Forestville Healthcare Center before retiring. She and Roger also owned and operated Stella Maris religious goods store in Bristol. 

She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Parish devoted to St. Ann Church, Bristol, and was a member of the Ladies of St. Ann Society and Army of Mary. 

In addition to her husband of 62 years, Julie is survived by five children: Marc Roy and wife Donna of Rutland, Mass.; Claudette Roy of Bristol, Conn.; Lisa Roy and partner John Morris of Rockledge, Pa.; Kenneth Roy and wife Lauri of Bristol, Conn.; and Michele DuBois and husband Andrew of Moultonborough, N.H. Two siblings: Rita Frechette of Manchester, N.H., and Paul Gagnon, MD, of East Hartford. Seven grandchildren: Kerstin Sweeney; Jessica McCormick; Eric, Katie and Sarah DuBois; Kiley and Leah Roy. Four great-grandchildren: Sydney Whalen, Evelyn Burke, Cassidy Mager, and Delaney McCormick. And many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings: Raymond Gagnon, MD, Rev. Andre Gagnon, Arthur Gagnon, Sr. Doris Gagnon, P.M., and infants Laurette and Ernest Gagnon. 

Calling hours for relatives and friends will be held at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Wednesday, July 5, between 4 and 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 6, at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home to St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
