Eastern volleyball posts ninth straight win

The Bristol Eastern volleyball team defeated Southington in straight sets Monday by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-18. The Lancers struggled a bit in the first set, which has happened a few times this season, but they worked out the kinks and served their way to a comfortable victory.

For Bristol Eastern, Ryley Plourde had 9 kills and Sage Scaritt produced 6 kills and 4 digs.

Southington was led by Morgan Birdsey with 4 kills, Kaley Smith with 5 aces and 8 digs, and Adrianna Palmieri with 15 digs.

The Lancers are now 9-0 on the season, and face crosstown rival Bristol Central on Thursday at the Central gym. The first match between the city rivals was hotly contested, as the Rams won the first set and pushed the Lancers in the next three. Eastern eventually emerged victorious, but not without a struggle.

Southington drops to 3-6 on the season.
