St. Paul edged Wolcott Monday night in dramatic fashion, overcoming a dismal fourth quarter to outscore the visitors by two in a tense overtime period to pull out the win, 44-42.

The Falcons were seemingly in the driver’s seat after three quarters, leading by 10, 33-23, entering the fourth. But Wolcott dominated in the fourth, holding St. Paul to two points in the quarter and tying the game in the final minute.

St. Paul could easily have folded after their dismal fourth period, but instead they re-grouped and fought a valiant back and forth overtime, emerging with a win that showed the grit and competitive heart of the Falcons.

Audrey Tice led St. Paul with 18 points, and Rebecca Kelly added 9 in a low-scoring affair.

The Falcon’s Kelsea Tefoe led the defensive effort with 6 blocks.

Mayci Abou Arrange led Wolcott with 18.

St. Paul improves to 14-5 with the win and closes out the regular season by traveling to Waterbury Career Academy on Thursday for a 7:00 start.

The Falcons currently sit in the eighth spot of the Class M bracket and will start the CIAC tourney with a home game. They should be in position for another strong run for a possible state championship.
