Good morning, Bristol!

Welcome to today’s “Good morning, Bristol!” Enjoy the content and the complementary after dinner mints.

It can’t be the end of the week today, can it? Time certainly flies when we are having fun. It also flies as we are growing old. Hopefully, the two things happen together.

Things to look forward to in 2035

Earth experiences a “mini-ice age” as solar activity decreases by 1 percent.

New train technology travels 3x faster than airplanes.

Majority of vehicles contain vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications to transmit information about speed, heading, brake status, etc.

Humans can “upgrade” their senses with implants that detect more signals.

Friday’s weather

Partly sunny in the morning, then mostly cloudy in the afternoon with increasing chances of showers. High around 80. Southwest winds at 5-10 m.p.h.. Chance of rain — 40 percent.

On this day

In 1970, golfer Phil Mikkelson was born.

In 1981, the great American singer-songwriter Harry Chapin died at the age of 38.

Yesterday’s trivia answers

  • Which letter is representative of 50 in Roman numerals? L
  • Which of the following is not the name of a Golden Girl: Blanche, Sophia, or Debbie? — Debbie
  • Who was the first woman pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic?- Amelia Earhart

All those with three correct answers will be enshrined in the TBE Trivia Hall of Fame.

Big doings on Saturday

Don’t miss the Opening Day of the Bristol Farmer’s Market. 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 15 Riverside Ave.

Another big event is the Zorba Greek Festival at 11 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. (It also runs on Friday evening and again on Sunday at 11 a.m.)

That’s it, Bristol. Enjoy the day and the weekend. Talk to you on Monday.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
