Bristol police release name of yesterday’s police car-jacking suspect

On Thursday shortly after noon, Bristol police were assisting Farmington police o a car-jacking case.
During the investigation, the suspect stole a police car, shots were fired, and a car chase ensued.

During the chase, the suspect crashed the police car into Palmas Restaurant on Stafford Avenue, and was arrested.


The suspect was identified as Jimmie Shoemaker-Gonzalez, age 39. He was charged with Larceny in the First Degree and is being held on 1 million dollar bond. He is now awaiting arraignment at New Britain Superior Court.


The incident is under investigation by the Office of Inspector General. That is all the information the police are releasing at this time.
