Connecticut Press Club announces state-wide contest for high school students

The Connecticut Press Club is holding a Communications Contest for high school students. Teens statewide are encouraged to enter work in 23 categories, including op-ed columns, blog posts, news and feature stories, radio, video, photographs, and cartoons, the organization announced earlier in January.

All entries must have been published or broadcast between Feb. 1, 2023, and Jan. 31, by a publication in a recognized medium for the category. i.e., a school, local, or national newspaper, website, radio or TV station, etc.

The deadline for high school entrants is at noon in the entrant’s time zone on Feb. 7, and the fee is $10. Click HERE for the complete list of categories.

The contest is open to all high school students in the state and recent graduates. This includes public, private, and home-schooled students who reside in Connecticut.

The contest will be judged by communications professionals who are members of the Connecticut Press Club.

First-place entries in the state contest are eligible to advance to the national contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women.

The Connecticut Press Club’s popular Communications Contest, which rewards excellence in 61 categories, is also accepting entries from communications professionals statewide. Click HERE to enter.

The Connecticut Press Club is an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women (NFPW) and includes both male and female members. The club welcomes all types of communicators: writers, editors, bloggers, authors, educators, public relations professionals, media photographers, students, and more. Plans for the coming year include lectures by sought-after speakers, professional development workshops, and networking/social events. For more information, e-mail ctpressclub@gmail.com.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
