Accident on Rt. 6 and King forces road closure until noon

A car stuck a utility pole, on Farmington Ave. (Rt. 6) in Bristol, early this morning, and as a result eastbound traffic in the area of Farmington Ave. and King St. is closed, according to a Bristol police dept. press release.

King St. is also closed to northbound traffic from Louisiana Ave. to Farmington Ave. Westbound traffic on Farmington Ave. and southbound traffic on King St. are not affected.

A detour is being set up for eastbound traffic on Farmington Ave. and northbound traffic on King St. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes this morning to help minimize delays and increase the safety for the crews working to restore the utility pole. The closure is expected to remain until at least noon today.

Wires and traffic lights in the intersection are hanging too low for tractor trailers and taller vehicles to safely pass under. No injuries were reported and Eversource Electric is on scene, the press release said.
