BRISTOL – The Bristol Central girls track and field team went 1-for-2 last week, snaring an impressive 93-57 victory over Middletown from home on Tuesday while dropping a tough 78-71 decision at Platt in Meriden two days later.

Against Middletown, several athletes were able to snare first place finishes.

Central’s 4×100 meter relay squad was triumphant in a time of 52.58 seconds while the 4×400 team finished the race in 4:35.9 for the victory.

In the long jump challenge, a certain BCHS volleyball standout took centerstage at the event.

Lily Kirk won the long jump with a leap of 14 feet, 6.5 inches while the talented Lynae Lewis won three events on Tuesday.

Lewis took the 400 meters in 63.3 seconds, snared the win in the 200 meters with a time of 28.1 seconds and her triple jump finish of 32 feet was good for first place.

Keeping it going in the short sprints, Central’s Gabriella Naranjo won the 100 meters (13.2 seconds), Sophia Stark crossed the finish line first in the 800 (2:29) and in the 300 hurdles, Emily Blanchette took the event in 56.5 seconds.

Against Platt on Thursday, the Rams dropped a tough nine-point decision on the road but had good performances up and down the roster.

Central took victory in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 12:04, nabbed first in the 4×400 (4:20) and in the 4×100, the winning time by the Rams was clocked at 52.99 seconds.
