BRISTOL – After a 10 point loss to Hall of West Hartford to open the season on January 3, the Bristol boys swimming co-op earned its first victory of the year on Friday – downing the squad from Enfield/Suffield/Ellington by a 97-83 final.

The contest, held from the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center in Bristol, saw the best swimmers from Bristol Central, Bristol Eastern and St. Paul Catholic combine forces to hold off the grouping from the Enfield area.

The Bristol contingent earned numerous first place tallies up and down the line-up.

Bristol scored first place in the medley relay as the grouping of Davis Kroll, Ryleigh Dionne, Tommy Massotti, and Aidan Palaj won in 1:50.57.

In the 200 Freestyle, Palaj was back at it again, winning the event in 1:53.76 while in the diving challenge, senior Jedric Sutula had the best dive of the afternoon for first place.

Massotti took first place in the 100 Fly (1:03.90) and in the 500 Free, Palaj won the event with a finish of 4:56.89.

The 400 Freestyle relay was won by the Bristol combination of Davis Kroll, Dionne, Massotti, and Palaj (3:36.51) while the locals also had several second and third place showings from the pool in Bristol.

It was a good win for the Bristol program, now 1-1, and the team will be looking forward to showing its mettle in the pool over the next seven weeks or so.

The squad will be hanging around the Bristol pool for quite some time as its first meet away from Bristol is actually the last regular season encounter for the program (February 21 at Middletown).

This Tuesday, Bristol squares off against South Windsor at 3:45 p.m. from the Dennis Malone Aquatics Center.
