Bristol Central wrestling takes it to Plainville, ramping up a huge 48-27 win on Friday

BRISTOL – Over a four-day stretch, the Bristol Central wrestling program hit the mats three times.

It was one heck of a stretch for the Rams but a rewarding one for the locals.

After flipping Maloney on Wednesday, Central then wrangled up a 48-27 victory over Plainville in a CCC South tilt from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium in Bristol on Friday.

The Rams defeated the Spartans by a 55-12 final two days previous and the victory over the Blue Devils pushed the Bristol squad to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in CCC South action.

Plainville, under the tutelage of former Bristol Eastern grappling standout Todd Krolikowski, fell to 2-4 overall and 2-2 (CCC South).

The Rams were challenged throughout but the home squad scooped up several wins via pin-fall – getting six points for each single slap of the mat by the referee.

At 106 pounds, Plainville’s Eli Benoit won by forfeit but Central’s Damian Burns-Paradis (113) also did not have an opponent to square-off against.

Freshman Albert Cruz Boglio (120) helped the Rams earn points off his pinfall win against Plainville’s Kali Fangiullo in 3:19 while teammate Julian Colon (126) pinned Charlie Hall in 5:06 as Central was racking up the points.

Plainville’s John Guzzardi, Jr. (132) pinned Aiden Lamarre in 3:54 but at 138, Central’s Landon Dionne nabbed a pin-fall victory over Nathaniel Artis in 2:27.

At 145, the Blue Devils’ Joseph Kennedy pinned Araya Guilmette at the forty-second mark of the second period while Central’s Lincoln Archibald (152) earned a huge pinball triumph over Hunter Krystock.

To continue Central’s winning ways, Umar Malick (160) pinned Gabriel Hernandez in 5:26 and then at 170, Dominic Sedlak nearly matched Malick as he earned the pinfall win over Aiden White in 5:16.

Plainville’s Alexander Santini (182) took an 18-5 major decision over Jayden Colon, Central’s Eric Cooper (195) won via forfeit while the Blue Devils’ Nicholas Dennis (220) snuck by Gabriel Buden by a 2-1 decision.

At heavyweight, Plainville’s Jeff Quirion La Oz pinned Central’s Jeff Labbe in 3:43.

Central traveled to Middletown on Saturday for a bout with several squads at the Colter Abeley Tournament to complete a busy week of action.
