Making Bristol Better is planning a summer event filled with games, food and entertainment for families.

“We just thought it would be great to get the community together,” said Maegan Adams. “Let’s support children’s health, wellness and education, and give them something fun to do.”

Adams is the executive director of the Bristol Preschool Child Care Center.

“Bristol Family Fun Day” will be a free event for families. Among the many activities planned are a magic show, balloon animals, face painting and rolling video games.

The local nonprofit group, which focuses on children ages birth to 9, will have information available at the event about the services that they provide for the community.

“This is an opportunity for us to let parents know what is available for you and your family,” said Donna Koser. “We really focus on literacy and health.”

Koser is the Early Childhood Coordinator at United Way of Central Connecticut.

Food vendors including Cookie Dough and Steve’s Hot Dogs will be onsite, as well as popcorn donated by 99 Restaurant.

A touch-a-truck event with the Bristol Fire Department will offer children the opportunity to get up close with a fire engine and the new fire trailer. Okee the Fire Peer Support Dog will be there to greet everyone and make friends.

“We want to promote the health and education of our youngest children,” said Donna Osuch. “There will be information for parents to help them support their children while their children have fun.”

Osuch is the Bristol School Readiness Liaison.

“Bristol Family Fun Day” is planned for June 17 at Bristol Eastern High School.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
