Croceann (Petrolito) Caccamo, 78

Croceann (Petrolito) Caccamo 78, of Bristol, widow of Joseph F. Caccamo, Jr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 26, after a long illness. Croceann, known to her family and friends as Chris, was born in New Britain on Oct. 9, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Pauline (Mallia) Petrolito.

She was raised in Plainville where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Joe. After graduating from Plainville High School, they married and moved to Bristol where they raised their four children. She owned and operated Plaza Mobile and Modular Homes with her husband before retiring.

Chris was actively involved with her kids’ schools and was known for her home cooking, always welcoming all into her home to come and enjoy. Her homemade pizza, Sunday pasta and Italian Christmas cookies were legendary. These traditions have been passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Chris spent many years in Westerly, R.I, where she enjoyed reading books on the beach. Establishing lifelong friendships, Chris and Joe hosted their annual pig roasts and picnics that included her famous clam chowder.

Chris was an avid reader, well known to the staff at the Manross Library. Her greatest joy was her time spent with her nine grandchildren with whom she shared her fondness of hot fudge sundaes and donuts.

Croceann is survived by four children: Tina Salius and husband, Christopher of Torrington, Christopher Caccamo and wife, Shelley, of Farmington, Lisa Greenwood and husband, Timothy, of Stuart, Florida, and Gina Watson and husband, Kevin, of Farmington; nine grandchildren: Ryne Salius, Megan, Sydney, and Cole Caccamo, Sam Greenwood, Nathaniel, Luke, Kate, and Brooke Watson. She was predeceased by her brother: Anthony Petrolito and her sister Pauline Blank.

Burial will be private and there are no calling hours.

The family wishes to thank the staff and caregivers of Valerie Manor and the Athena Hospice staff for their loving, compassionate care and support they provided Chris. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Chris’s memory to F.N. Manross Memorial Library, 260 Central Street, Forestville, CT 06010.

Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, is honored to serve the Caccamo family.  Please visit Croceann’s memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
