A community-wide bell-ringing event this Saturday will mark 100 days since the state shutdown to slow novel coronavirus infections, recognize those whose lives have been affected by the virus and acknowledge the efforts of healthcare workers and first responders.

The event will be a prelude to an interfaith gathering in St. Gregory Church parking lot.

At 4 p.m. all churches throughout Bristol will ring their bells for 5 -7 minutes. St. Joseph Church’s bell choir will gather and perform in front of Bristol Hospital.

At 4:30 p.m. the interfaith service will commence at St. Gregory Church parking lot where community leaders will address attendees and recognize the efforts of first responders, healthcare workers, those afflicted with the coronavirus, and their families.

This event is free and open to all. Parking is available at St. Paul High School parking lot and at the St. Gregory CCD Center on Stafford Ave.

Some parking spaces will be set aside for people with disabilities at the Stafford Ave. entrance to St. Gregory’s Church.

Those attending are encouraged to wear masks, and gather in an appropriately socially distanced manner.

The event is sponsored by the City of Bristol and churches within the city.
