Lifelong Bristol resident Mark Dickau announces candidacy for Bristol City Council on Democratic ticket

Lifelong Bristol resident Mark Dickau recently announced his intent to run for Bristol City Council’s Third District as a Democrat through a social media post.

“I will strive to make the City of Bristol a place where everyone feels welcome and supported. We must be united, not just during tragedies, but at all times,” said Dickau in the post.

Raised in the Federal Hill neighborhood, Dickau is a graduate of Bristol Eastern High School and Charter Oak State College. The Bristol resident currently works in the insurance industry, supporting the World Trade Center Health Plan for the Survivors and First Responders.

Dickau has been an active volunteer for the Bristol Hospital WIC Program, the Greene Hills PTO and the St. Joseph’s Church CYO. He has been involved in several community organizations including playing and volunteering in the Men’s Bristol Slo-Pitch Softball league and coaching for Pony League Baseball.

Dickau currently resides in Forestville along with his wife Melissa Dickau who is the Director of the Bristol Hospital Women Infant and Children’s program. Together they raised their daughter Alexandra Thomas, a Bristol Central graduate.

Dickau will face incumbents Cheryl Thibeault and Andrew Howe, both Republicans, in this November’s municipal election.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
