Jean-Paul Maheu, 91

Jean-Paul Maheu, 91, of Bristol, widower of Murielle (Theberge) Maheu, died on Saturday, June 4. Jean-Paul was born in Nantes, Province of Quebec, Canada on Nov. 14, 1930, and was a son of the late Alfred and Merilda (Couture) Maheu.

He lived his early years in Canada before moving to Bristol in 1951 going to work for General Electric before retiring. He was active with the Bristol Senior Center, working on their newsletter, The Senior Times, and was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Parish attending St. Ann Church.

Jean Paul is survived by four children: Doreen Wilson and husband, Robert of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Carol Puerta and husband, Javier of Bristol, Wendy Rios and husband, Sam of Crosby, Texas, and Paul Maheu and wife, Jamie of Bristol; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings: Robert Maheu, Simone Lecours, and Constance Fortier.

Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, on Thursday, June 16, between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebration at St. Ann Church, 215 West St., Bristol at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
