Nancy Hoffnagle Hoyt, 88

Nancy Hoffnagle Hoyt, 88, of Burlington, widow of Robert Edward Hoyt, died on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Avon Health Center. Nancy was born in Bristol on May 3, 1935. 

She was raised in Forestville and graduated from Bristol High School. She settled on Miller Road in Burlington in December 1968 where she and Bob took up renovating their 1785 farmhouse and farming. Family was the most treasured part of her life. She enjoyed having many farm animals, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and sewing.

She was always looking for new inventive business ideas. Early on she owned a fabric store, worked at Wasley Buick, Pierce Buick, and The Travelers. She volunteered and enjoyed participating in 4-H, Bristol Garden Club, and Burlington Historical Society. She was a member of the Burlington Congregational Church.

Nancy was predeceased by her father and mother, John and Dora Hoffnagle, and her sister, Beverly Booth. Nancy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Carolyn Hoffnagle. Nancy is survived by five children: Robert Hoyt (Avon, Conn.), Dorann and her husband, Jeffrey Seltzer (Delray Beach, Fla.), Loranna “Jane” and her husband, Kevin Lucey (New London, N.H.), Jamieson and his wife, Kellie Hoyt (Burlington, Conn.) and Matthew and his wife, Kelly Hoyt (Burlington, Conn.); grandchildren: Jared, Leah (her husband, Sean), Sean, Kevin (his wife, Jessica), Shannon (her husband, Cory), Aubrey (her husband, Wesley), Austin (his wife, Claire), Alex, Dominic (his wife, Chelsea), Madison, Lindy, Erica (her husband, John), Ryan and Morgan; great-grandchildren: Isaac, Ian, Landin, Peyton, Jayne, Colt, Callum, Dominic Jr., Sonora & Walker; and her “most beautiful” niece, Susan, and nephews, Tom, Jonathan, Daniel, Davis and Michael.

Relatives and friends are welcome to pay their respects this Friday, Dec. 22, starting at 1 p.m. at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Burlington Center Cemetery.

Following her burial all are welcome to join her family and friends for a gathering at the Burlington Men’s Club at 44 Covey Rd. in Burlington.
