MERIDEN – The Bristol Central wrestling program continues to run through the 2021-22 campaign with zest and this past Wednesday, the Rams kept its perfect ledger intact as the Rams picked off Platt by a 40-33 decision in Meriden.

Central is now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in CCC South action while Platt fell to 15-7 (1-3 CCC South).

The Rams nabbed an early 18-6 edge in the showdown and never looked back.

On an individual front for the Rams, Julian Colon (120) nabbed a major 14-5 decision over the Panthers’ Edward Waters and then at 132, Central’s Aiden Lamarre turned in an 11-5 decision against Tristen Mendoza.

And at 145 ponds, Central’s Lincoln Archibald earned the pin in just over one minute of action.

He pinned Platt’s Luis Caban in 1:12 and then Umar Malick (152) drew an 8-4 decision versus the Panthers’ Caiden Talento.

At 160, Central’s Ayden Pratt earned a medical forfeit victory over Ahmed Hernandez.

The Rams’ Jayden Colon (182) needed just 41 seconds to pin Cristion Taylor while Central’s two heavyweights needed a combined 67 seconds to dispose of the competition.

Gabriel Buden (220) pinned Isaiah Smith in 50 seconds while Jeff Labbe (285) drew a pinfall victory over Aiden McCarty – needing just 27 seconds to earn the win.

And all those victories by the locals led to the seven-point triumph over a very good squad from Meriden.

On Wednesday, February 2, the Central program is back in action against CCC Interdivisional challenger Edwin O. Smith from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium in Bristol.

First match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
