Bristol Central wrestling falls to Maloney before picking up three critical wins at the Holiday Quad on Friday

By Michael Letendre

The Bristol Central wrestling team battled Maloney this past Wednesday, hanging in against the CCC South power.

The Rams made gains throughout the evening but ended up dropping a tough 37-27 decision from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium in Bristol.

Central was certainly more than competitive but the Spartans did just enough to move to 2-0 overall.

There was a double-forfeit at 106 pounds but at 120, Central picked up six points.

Kaden Dragon pinned Maloney’s Mohammed Ramlek in 3:13 while at 126, the multi-skilled Alex Lamarre won against Daren Johnson – seizing a 5-4 decision.

Central’s Joseph Niek (132) pinned Dontae Smith in 3:30 as the locals had success over the lightweight divisions.

At 150 pounds, Aiden Lamarre pinned the Spartans Ezequiel Acevedo in 3:45 while the 157 bout saw Lincoln Archibald seize victory yet again.

In a very aggressive showdown, Archibald was able to defeat Devan Bacote via pinfall (1:41).

Also in action for Central that day were Maleeah Rios (113), Julian Colon (138), Derek Sedlak (144), Alexander Zolla (165), Jayden Colon (175), Jack Jones (190), Cole Krueger (215) and Michael Jones (285).

Clean sweep on Friday

The Rams stayed home on Friday for a trio of showdowns against some traditional CCC opponents.

Central went 3-0 at the Holiday Quad, defeating South Windsor 49-30, spinning New Britain 48-27 while topping Edwin O. Smith 54-24 from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium.

The locals are now 3-2 overall on the season.

“Maleeah Rios, Kaden Dragon, Alex Lamarre, Julian Colon, Aiden Lamarre, Lincoln Archibald and Jayden Colon each went undefeated for the day,” said the Bristol Central wrestling feed on X.

Up next

Next Friday, the Rams are back home for a trio of talented opponents as the gym at Central is going to be quite busy that day.

At 8:30 a.m., the Rams square off against CCC challengers Conard and Wethersfield while also welcoming Staples to Bristol.
