Walk to End Alzheimer’s coming to Rockwell Park Sunday

The Central Connecticut Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will hold their annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 2 at Rockwell Park.

“This Walk to End Alzheimer’s season will be our biggest and best yet,” said Ginny Hanbridge in a press release. “This is an event where families dealing with this horrible disease see that they are not alone, and can access resources and support.”

Hanbridge is the Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter.

Held nationally in more than 600 communities across the country, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

“Money raised at the Walks allows us to serve more families in this state as well as advance critical research towards new treatments and ways to prevent this disease” said Hanbridge.

On Walk Day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s and all other dementia with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease.

There are 80 thousand people in Connecticut living with Alzheimer’s disease, and twice as many caregivers: many of them unpaid family members.

Heidi Voight of NBC 30 will serve as emcee, and honor both of her grandmothers who passed away with dementia.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
