Weekly Wrestling Round-up: Bristol Eastern grapplers drop Plainville to snare first CCC South victory on Wednesday night

BRISTOL – The Bristol Eastern wrestling program enjoyed senior night on Wednesday with a huge CCC South victory over neighboring Plainville.

The Lancers got back to the pay window via a huge 54-30 triumph over the Blue Devils from the friendly confines of the Thomas M. Monahan Gymnasium on the campus of BEHS.

The Kingstreeters improved to 5-8 overall off the victorious effort, winning for the first time in CCC South competition this season.

Plainville fell to 13-10 and 1-5.

Eastern’s Andrew Brown (106 pounds) earned his victory off a forfeit which was good for six points.

At 120, Luke Viens was able to score a second period pinfall win over Plainville’s Eli Benoit in 2:52 and teammate Michael Roalf (126) won via pin against Kali Fangiullo in 3:34.

The Lancers’ Xavier Rosie (132) earned his win without an opponent to face while feisty Joshua Aubin (145) pinned Plainville’s Bartlomiej Powala over first period action.

His pin was recorded at 1:24 while teammate Rocco Barbino (152) pinned Charlie Hall in 3:27.

Eastern running back Jaiden Fore (170) quickly put the Blue Devils’ Hunter Krystock away – needing just 15 seconds to score the pin – while pigskin teammate Adam Zavecz (182) nabbed his pin-fall victory over Aiden White, zipping up the win in 47 seconds.

And the Lancers’ Owen Broyles (195) dropped Plainville’s Jacob Boucher with a pin-fall triumph in 1:12.

The Big One

Wednesday, February 8, Eastern puts it all on the line against Bristol Central from the Charles C. Marsh Gymnasium.

The matches commence at 6 p.m. and should be a great local event.

And nine days later, the CIAC championships commence which will include the Lancers.
