The City of Bristol Department of Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services (BPRYCS) announced that they will host the 72nd Annual Perry J. Spinelli Fishing Derby on Saturday, April 29, at Page Park.

“We are looking forward to another great fishing derby and watching the community come together for a fun morning of fishing and prizes,” said Madison Fostervold.

Fostervold is the newly appointed BPRYCS recreation program assistant.

The fishing derby is for children of all skill levels 13 years of age and under. There is no cost to participate in the derby, and pre-registration is not required. There will be a variety of prizes awarded for fish caught throughout the morning, winners will be announced at 10 a.m.

Participants should check in at the Page Park Pavilion the day of the event between 6:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine at the Page Park Pond on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Each participant may use one fishing pole, one hook, and one bobber to catch their fish. Artificial lures and gang hooks are not allowed, participants may lure their catches in with any legal bait.

Parents or guardians may assist in casting during the family-friendly event; however, they must ensure that the children land their own fish.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
