At an 8:30 a.m. press conference the state police and Bristol Police Chief Brian Gould releasedf some of the details of last night’s horrific events.

Christine Jeltema, Sergeant, Connecticut State Police, served as the police spokesperson. She stated that at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday night, the Bristol Police Department received a 911 call to 310 Redstone Hill Road for a possible domestic dispute between two siblings.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they were met outside by one of the suspects and shots were immediately exchanged.

One officer was killed at the scene, and two other officers were transported to the hospital. A second officer was pronounced dead at the hospital, and the third officer was treated and then transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with serious injuries. The suspect was fatally shot at the scene, and the second suspect, his brother, was transported to an area hospital. His status was unknown at the time of the press conference.

The deceased officers were identified by Chief Gould as Sergeant Dustin Demonte, age 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, age 34. Officer Alex Iurato, 36, underwent surgery for a severe gunshot wound and is currently recovering.

Police did not identify the suspects at the news conference, but will release more details as they become available.

We will publish details on the deceased and wounded officer later today.
