Good morning, Bristol!

Seeing the crowd gathered at the new pickle ball courts at Seymour Park, the staff of TBE decided to give the game a try, and we are writing this while awaiting our x-ray results. Words of advice — don’t dive on a concrete court to reach a shot whizzing by you.

Tuesday’s weather

Patchy fog with a chance of showers in the morning. Partly sunny with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 70’s. Winds from the west at 5 m.p.h. Chance of rain — 40 percent.

Tuesday events

If you are having trouble sleeping, you can catch tonight’s City Council meeting on zoom. It begins at 7 p.m.

If you have any idea where the Upper Valley Nighthawks are from, you can travel to see the Bristol Blues tonight. If you’re not back by midnight, we will organize a search party.

This date in history

  • On June 13, 1777, the Marquis de Lafayette lands in the U.S. (Within two years, the entire Continental Army is fluent in French.)
  • In 1913, the Yankees win their 13th game of year after losing 36 games. (Then the Red Sox gave them Babe Ruth.)
  • Comedian Tim Allen was born on this date in 1953.

High school graduation

Good luck to all the graduates from Central and Eastern tonight.

Petty crime report

It appears that someone has raided the treasury of The Bristol Edition.

In a related development, at least one TBE staff has enough sense to get away on vacation this week. And it’s in a pretty nice place.

That’s all for today, folks. Enjoy the day.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
