Reimer leads Lady Falcons to win over Watertown in NVL Playoffs, 66-51

Basketball

The St. Paul girls basketball players remembered their last game with Watertown eleven days earlier. It was their worst game of the year, a game in which they missed shot after shot and played an overall sloppy game in a 56-43 loss.

So when the opening tip went up Saturday morning, the Falcons were eager to erase the bad memories, and they jumped out to a 9 point halftime lead and then built on that during the second half for a convincing 66-51 victory over Watertown at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury. With the win, St. Paul advances to the semi-final against Seymour on Tuesday night at Naugatuck High School.

Nadia Reimer was a dominant force in Saturday’s game, pouring in 24 points, including four treys from beyond the arc. Reimer was supported by Audrey Tice with 12 and Zoey Rubins with 10 points. Rubins also snared 8 rebounds and dished out 9 assists in an incredible complete game performance. Sam Naples was also a force on the boards with 7 rebounds of her own.

St. Paul, with the win, is now 16-4 on the season. Watertown drops to 12-9.

The St. Paul- Seymour winner advances to the finals To face the Holy Cross- Woodland victor in the other bracket. That championship game will be on Thursday night at Kennedy High School in Waterbury.
