Good morning, Bristol!

Welcome to Tuesday, the Thor Heyerdahl of the work week.

Today’s weather

Leftover showers from yesterday will linger in the a.m.

Supposedly, according to the “weather people,” there will be sunshine in the afternoon.

Random pop culture thought

In the movie The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker meets Yoda on Dagobah after he crash lands in a swamp.

Does Dagobah have a historical society? If so, after Luke led the rebels to defeat the Empire, did the Dagobah Historical Society place a historic marker where Luke and Yoda first met? Or what about marker at Yoda’s hovel that says Luke Skywalker Slept Here.

Sports trivia question

On this date in 1972, the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Oakland A’s 1-0 in game 3 of the 1972 World Series.

The Reds had four hits, while the A’s managed three. Each team committed two errors and combined for 20 Ks.

The game took two hours and 24 minutes, it was played on natural grass and there were 49,410 spectators in attendance. Name them.

The winner will receive a month’s subscription to the TBE.

A hymn

Lead, kindly Light, amid th’encircling gloom, lead Thou me on!

The night is dark, and I am far from home, lead

Thou me on!

Keep Thou my feet, I do not ask to see,

The distant scene, one step enough for me.

The handoff

Our time together is over. Remember, measure twice cut once, Bristol. Don’t mess up. See ya, Thursday.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access eight (8) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
