In its only home meet of the campaign, BCHS boys and girls cross county sweeps bouts against Lewis Mills and Maloney from Rockwell Park on Monday

BRISTOL – The Bristol Central cross country programs had an extremely successful meet this past Monday as both the boys and girls teams were able to post victories against Lewis Mills and Maloney.  

The girls won its races by 15-50 scores against both Spartan programs from Rockwell Park in Bristol.  

And for the boys, Central was a 26-30 victor over a talented outfit from Mills while the locals easily defeated Maloney by a 15-44 final. 

“Bristol Central Cross Country handled business at our only home meet of the season,” said Central coach Tamara Stafford-Kirk via Twitter. “[We were] running in memory of Jeannette Porrini & ‘One Life.’ Our boys and girls went undefeated on the day against Lewis Mills and Maloney. So proud of this crew.”  

Once again for the boys, Frankie Porrini took the lead and never looked back – finishing the race in 16:52.6 – with the second place finisher, Central’s Chris Roy (18:15.6) a bit in the distance.  

Roy ran extremely well while Central’s Patrick Wininger also kept pace, finishing in fourth place in 19:02.  

Also crossing the finish line in a timely fashion was Lance Archibald (8th place, 19:34.7), Braydan Dwyer (11th,  20:12), Nicola DiMatteo, (17th, 21:06.5), and Scott Petrosky (18th, 21:17). 

The boys are a perfect 6-0 in CCC South competition to date. 

And in the girls showdown, Lindsey Cascio from Lewis Mills was the winner in 21:57.5.   

Seizing fourth place was Central’s Katie Tran (25:10.1) while teammate Lynae Lewis (26:16.6) finished in sixth.  

Central’s Emma Cavallari (8th place, 26:26.5) and Johannie Juarez (9th 27:47.2) also ran well for the Rams. 

Next week, it’s the annual city series showdown. 

On Thursday, October 13, Central links up with Bristol Eastern to square off against St. Paul Catholic in a non-conference extravaganza.  

The first race commences at 3:45 p.m. from St. Paul Catholic High School.
