Bristol Central Boys survive late Avon rally, win opener 78-76

The Bristol Central boys got off to a great start in the 2021 campaign with a 78-76 home win over Avon Wednesday night.

The Rams got off to a quick lead in the first quarter, and built on it throughout the second, leading by a score of 51-32 at the half.

But Avon made a furious comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Rams by 18 points, as the Falcons made 5 three pointers in the quarter and 12 treys overall.

After the score was tied at 72, Central had just enough to pull out the victory.

Donovan Clingan led the Rams with 35 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Clingan shot 16-21 from the field. Damion Glasper had 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists, shooting 8-12 from the field.

Sean Wininger chipped in 12 points with 11 rebounds for the Rams, and Victor Rosa added 8 assists on the night.

Avon was led by Jack Hall with 29 points.

Bristol Central shot 59% from the floor as a team in the game. 

The Rams travel to Bristol Eastern on Friday for a very early cross-town battle.
