City council to address union agreements in executive sessions among other business at tonight’s meeting

A portion of the business for this month’s city council meeting will include several executive sessions, the majority of which involve agreements with unions.

The council meets this evening following the Joint Meeting with the finance board at the Board of Education auditorium at 7 p.m. The Joint Meeting begins at 6:45 p.m.

Executive sessions will be held to discuss agreements between the city and Local #1338, Nutmeg Independent Labor Unions, the city and the Bristol Police Union and the city and Local #773, International Association of Firefighters, and to take necessary action.

A separate executive session will discuss a workers compensation claim between Jaquoi Belin and the city.

Among other items on the agenda are the following: approval of a $4,767,000 contract with D’Amato+Downes Joint Venture for the construction of the new Northeast Middle School, the approval of a commemorative marker for Tory’s Den proposed by the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and several change orders totaling over $50,000 for the construction of the Bristol Arts and Innovation Magnet School.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
