Eastern girls lacrosse knocks off St. Paul, 13-7

The Lady Lancers hosted the St. Paul Falcons on Thursday night at Alumni Field and came away with a 13-7 win on the strength of great games by goalie Erin Martin, Meg Krok, Jayna Hatcher and Leah Roy.

Since Roy was moved to middie the ground ball advantage has been clearly on the Lancers side. Her toughness and quickness all over the field have been a big difference for Eastern.

The defense was anchored by three seniors, Meg Krok, Jayna Hatcher and Gabby McLay. Krok has been locking down the opponents all season while Hatcher’s checks and clearances allows the Lancers to gain possession.

The offense was led by Emma Stavens, who had a big game with six goals, an assist and dominant draw control. Harper Dauphinee was great on the draw and also had two goals, an assist and six ground balls and seven draw controls. Vanessa Drury had three goals, an assist and four ground balls. Kate Patterson was great on defense, limiting St. Paul’s best players to limited shots. She also had a goal and five ground balls. Savannah Drury chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Eastern gets right back on the field today, hosting Lewis Mills at 6:00.
