Serious auto accident closes Route 6 at the intersection with Camp Street

A serious auto accident closed a busy intersection in Bristol Friday morning.

Police said the crash was reported around 9:40 a.m. at the intersection of Camp Street and Farmington Avenue. The sound of the accident was so loud that it was heard clearly on WestWoods Golf Course in Farmington. Multiple sirens were heard for the following 20 minutes.

The crash involved two dark colored SUVs that both sustained heavy damage, but at this time the police have not commented on the manner of the crash. 

The intersection was closed for the next several hours while officers investigated. At the time of this report (12:30 p.m.), Route 6 was still shut down to thru traffic. The accident has been described as serious, though no additional details were immediately released.  

Lifestar was called to the scene, but at this time, there are no reports on the condition of the occupants of the vehicles.
